Directions

From the Airport to the main train station: The airport is directly connected by train to the Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof, or HB for short) of Zürich. Just follow the railway signs to the underground station. Trains to Zürich leave about every 15 minutes. Tram number 10 also runs frequently from the airport to the city center (tram stop called “Central”) which is a 4 minute walk from the main train station.

From the main train station to ETH Hönggerberg (conference location): From the main train station, one can take tram no. 11 (in direction “Auzelg” and from the stop “Bahnhofquai/HB”) and change at the stop “Bucheggplatz” into bus no. 69 which takes you directly to ETH Hönggerberg (terminal stop). Alternatively, one can also use the direct shuttle bus to ETH Hönggerberg (this service is also for guests of ETH Zürich and free of charge). The bus stop “Haldenegg” from where one can take this bus to ETH Hönggerberg is about a 10 minute walk from the main station.

Itineraries, tickets: You can look for itineraries on google maps, or for most up to date information, on the SBB app. In case you choose to use public transport, please make sure you buy a valid ticket. The SBB app lets you buy end-to-end train tickets as well as “Zone” tickets: the Zone 110 tickets cover the bulk of Zürich, from the lakeside to the Hönggerberg campus and beyond. Any public transportation (trains, trams, buses) is included, as long as you stay within this zone. Zone 110 does not include the Zürich airport, though. We advise you to buy a Zone 110 “Tageskarte” (day card): it costs the price of two one-way tickets but is valid 24 hours. For the whole week, you may buy a “Mehrfahrtenkarte Tageskarte” (6x) (not available on the SBB app but available on the ZVV app) which lets you save even more. You can also buy tickets at the blue machines at tram and bus stops, as well as in the railway station.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place at Mellow Eventlocation, Albisstrasse 84, 8038 Zürich (https://www.mellow.ch/).

Our volunteers will guide you from the conference venue to the dinner in case you would be going there directly. Otherwise, it is about 50 minutes by public transport. The dinner venue can be reached from the conference venue by taking bus number 69 from ETH Hönggerberg to Milchbuck and then taking tram number 7 (towards Wollishofen) from Milchbuck to Butzenstrasse, and then walking for about 2 minutes. For those heading there from the city centre, tram number 7 can be taken directly from the tram stop Central.
